Sansigot is a Kvarner indigenous grape variety that produces red wines with a light to medium body and a pleasant freshness. Its other name, Sušćan Crni, comes from the sandy island of Susak in the Lošinj archipelago, where the variety originates. Locally, it is also called "hard grape" or "charming grape", and Sansigot wine loves wood because it rounds out its freshness. Today, after Žlahtina, Sansigot is the second most common Kvarner variety in vineyards, which are mostly located on the island of Krk. Only a small part of the Sansigot vineyards are located on sandy Susak.
