The territory of the Republic of Croatia is divided into four wine-growing regions (Official Gazette 81/2022, Ordinance on Viticulture, Article 4), and Kvarner and the Croatian Littoral is a wine-growing sub-region of the wine-growing region of Croatia Istria and Kvarner (Article 4, paragraph 2, Official Gazette 81/2022, Ordinance on Viticulture).
The subregion Kvarner and Croatian Littoral (according to Annex I, point 2, Ordinance on Viticulture, NN 81/2022) is divided into:
Opatija – Rijeka – Vinodol Wine Region
(Lovran, Mošćenička Draga, Opatija, Matulji, Kastav, Čavle, Kraljevica, Viškovo, Bakar, Bribir, Crikvenica, Novi Vinodolski, Vinodol Municipality, Rijeka, Kostrena, Karlobag, Senj),
Krk Vineyards
(island of Krk),
Rab Vineyards
(island of Rab),
Cres – Losinj vineyards
(islands of Cres, Lošinj, Susak and the Lošinj archipelago),
Pag vineyards
(island of Pag, island of Vir).

Accordingly, the wine-growing sub-region of Kvarner and the Croatian Littoral extends through three counties, mostly through Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and to a lesser extent through Lika-Senj County and Zadar County.
