Rosé wines from Kvarner for a better summer feeling
Year after year, rosé wines are increasingly in demand on our coast. On warm summer evenings, they are truly refreshing. In addition to rosé wines, we also have the pride of Kvarner, our Kvarner shrimp, which goes perfectly with rosé wine. There are also seasonal strawberries that go perfectly with their aromas. The color pink is associated with carefreeness, relaxation, and vacation, so I think that summer in Kvarner cannot go by without a glass of ideally chilled rosé.
The specialty of Kvarner's rosé wines is that they are produced from indigenous varieties. Our pride and most famous variety is certainly Sansigot. The same goes for the Brajdica, Kamenina and Debejan varieties. Rosé wine is also produced from the Trojišćina variety, an almost forgotten variety that winemaker and nurseryman Ivica Dobrinčić managed to bring back to life and make a top-quality rosé from. In addition to indigenous varieties, we also have international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, which give great results and win awards.
Kvarner's rosé wines have won the hearts of the local audience, but they are also winning great successes at domestic and foreign competitions. For example, Ružica Vinodola won a gold medal at the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles for the 2022 vintage. They also won a gold medal for the sparkling wine Ružica Vinodola at Vinistra 2021. The Ivan Katunar wine house won a silver medal at the 2021 International Rose Championship. I am sure that there will be more medals in the future because these winemakers have something to show for it.
My ideal summer rose wine is Ružica Vinodola from the Pavlomir wine house. Mr. Palinkaš definitely knows how to make top-notch roses. It is made from the Cabernet Sauvignon variety and the wine is adorned with beautiful berry aromas, strawberries that put you in a good mood and remind you that summer and beach fun are just beginning. As I already mentioned, our pride, the indigenous Kvarner shrimp, as an ideal summer appetizer, pleasantly chilled with a tendency to sweetness, will go perfectly with a glass of cold, fresh Ružica Vinodola. In addition to the fact that I like to offer this wine to the company I am in, I also offer it with great pleasure to the guests at our Nobilion restaurant who have nothing but words of praise.
